Here at Volcano Divers Nicaragua we offer all PADI programs from introduction dives, Open Water courses all the way up to PADI Dive Master.
Discover Scuba Diving
The first step of discovering the underwater world! If you want to do a single dive but are not certified, the Discover Scuba Dive gives you the chance to dive with a PADI Instructor in a volcanic crater lake. After a short classroom session you will do some basic skills in shallow water to get acquainted with the equipment. This only takes about an hour and then you are ready to enjoy your first dive!
Open Water Certification
The course entails, in addition to classroom sessions, 5 ‘swimming pool’ sessions where you will learn a number of diving skills. Furthermore you will be enjoying your first 4 open water dives as part of the course as well! The course takes 3.5 days to finish. After completing the exam, you will be certified to dive as deep as 18m (or 60ft) everywhere around the world, and your certification will never expire!
If you want to speed it up a bit, you can also choose to do e-learning, this way you can do the whole theory section online before you even get here. The course will only take 2.5 days if you have completed the e-learning.
Advanced Open Water
If you want to learn more about diving, this is the course for you! During 2 or 3 days, you will do 5 open water dives all focusing on a different adventure. The deep dive (allowing you to dive up to 30m or 100 ft) and navigation dive are PADI requirements. Next to those, you can choose 3 from the additional available adventures: search and recovery, computer, peak performance buoyancy, fish identification, night. For each dive you will have a short classroom session with our instructor followed by knowledge reviews.
If you would like to spice it up a bit, we can take you to Lago de Xiloa for one of the days. This is another crater lake at about an hour and a half by car from Apoyo. Xiloa is more of an advanced dive site with steep walls going down into the depths and an abundance of fish. Your experience of a Volcano Crater is even enhanced when you stumble upon big holes where constant streams of boiling hot sulphur can be seen moving towards the surface. If you decide to dive here, you can also choose boat dive as one of your adventure dives.
Rescue Diver and EFR:
If you want to learn how to handle diving emergencies underwater and at the surface, this is the course for you. Before starting your Rescue diver course, it is required to have finished the Emergency First Response course within the last 24 months. You can also follow EFR with us.
The Rescue course consists of 2×2 dive sessions, spread over 2 days. If you want to speed it up a bit, you can also choose to do e-learning, this way you can do the whole theory section online before you even get here.
If you want to become a dive professional, this is the course to follow! As Dive Master Trainee you will see every aspect of a fully functioning PADI Dive Resort, help out during other courses and join for many fun dives. There are a lot of options to combine your divemaster course with work for the Peace Project NGO, for example in teaching English at local schools, but you can also choose to combine your course with Spanish lessons or if you are a marine biologist, there is still lots to research in our crater lakes!
If you’re already certified, just come have some fun!
